Sally Ann
Biography
In 2016, tending to my three children was my world. My husband encouraged me to do something for myself. I decided to embark on a new journey into art through college classes because it was hard for me to find an apprenticeship. Previously I was a cosmetologist with a focus on color, so art was a natural path for me to follow. Finding my passion for what media my creativity flowed through and my inspirations was a bumpy road. I found working in metal arts and oil paints is where I find my flow.I received my BFA in Studio Art focusing on sculpture and painting. I selected juried shows and continued my education through participating in the National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron. I love my home and family on the Western Slope of Colorado but am ambitious to travel to gain an eclectic amount of art filled experiences.

Artist statement
My family is the center of my life; I incorporate those lives that I consider my family, or representations of family into my art. Family is not only blood, but all the people and animals that I share companionship with.
I draw my ideas from these relationships. I carry the influence of my family through metaphors that I portray with my felines. While the cats I depict are real and I consider them as my family, they represent different feelings and emotions through symbolism. Candid photos inspire my works, and the bright colors and textures relay my emotions. I then choose the media that will help me best express the emotions be that paint, metal, or wood. My family is deeper than kinship, it is the intimate integral relationships I have made that drive me in everything I do which can be seen through the artwork I create.
In continuing my pursuit to define my style I plan on attending seminars and apprenticeships; also focusing on my style to commission personal pieces and using completed pieces as inspiration or examples.
